Weekends rock

So, it's been awhile since I've updated the blog. I think I realized that our lives aren't so exciting that people would want to read about us every day so I figured I'd wait till I had some things to talk about.

Lately, Josh and I have been doing a lot of cooking, and along with that, purchasing new kitchen gadgets. Recently, we purchased a new bread maker from Bed, Bath, & Beyond using a gift card that we got for our wedding (Thanks Jason!).

Josh has recently expressed a lot of interest in making his own bread, so that's why we purchased it. Little did we know that when we opened the recipe book that came with it, it also makes pizza dough, pasta dough, garlic bread, fruit compote, you name it. So, here's our first loaf of bread:

Right now, it's cooling so we can't touch it for an hour, which is really an unfair temptation, but, it smells delicious so I can only imagine how it tastes. I'll report back later on that.

We also purchased a food processor, which I am really excited about. Strange, I know, but there are always recipes that would be way easier if I had one. My plan for the food processor is to start by making homemade lemon garlic hummus. I'm pumped. We really like hummus, and it's a nice healthy snack, but it's so expensive at the store ($4.00). Now, for the price of a can of garbanzo beans, which is about $0.33 cents, we can make homemade hummus. Everything else that goes in it are things you'd have around anyway - oil, minced garlic, and salt. Again, I'll report back later on how this comes out, but how can it be bad?

Other than that, everything else is pretty much the same. Cali adjusted to life with us extremely quickly, and now she's so comfortable that she likes to wake us up at 5:30am on Saturdays. However, I'll take that instead of an animal biting at my scalp at 5:30am. She's a really sweet cat and I'm glad we could give her a nice home. If anyone is interested in adopting a kitten or cat, let us know. We went through Angel Cat Haven in Plainville, MA and they do a great job of placing the right kitten or cat with the right owners.

We're excited for the upcoming months. We're going to NH to the Wakefield Inn for Josh's birthday weekend in June, and then we have two weddings, the Gaskell/Ritter/Cohen Cape week, and our one year marriage anniversary (how did time go by that fast?). We're super excited for our cruise too, but that's still awhile away. Hopefully we'll take a few more small trips too. For now, I'm excited that the first day of Spring is tomorrow, which means less of this snowy stuff and more sun!
